The ferry sliced through the choppy waters, the salt spray misting the windows. Liam, leaning against the railing, watched the city skyline recede. The wind whipped through his hair, carrying with it the sounds of a distant busker. He recognized it immediately – a song he'd written years ago, a song that defined him at the time.

His jaw eased. A small, almost imperceptible smile played on his lips. He let his gaze drift towards the horizon, letting the music fill the gaps in his thoughts. The melody tugged at something deep within him, a memory of a time of his life he had put in the past, a time he let go. The busker’s rendition was different, more upbeat, more hopeful.

He found himself tapping his foot in time, a slow, deliberate rhythm that mirrored the gentle rocking of the boat. He breathed out, feeling the tension evaporate from his shoulders. He felt... okay.
